All New - Lifted

Lifted is a story of resistance, resurgence, and the unbreakable spirit of First Nations people. For 150 years, the Indian Act has tried to control and assimilate us—restricting our movements, our governance, our identities, and our ways of being. And for decades, the Potlatch Ban criminalized the ceremonies that root us in who we are.

Yet our cultures were never erased. They were carried, protected, and quietly practiced in the hearts of our people.

Now, as we mark 75 years since the Potlatch Ban was lifted and 150 years of surviving the Indian Act, we honour both the adversity we’ve faced and the strength that has carried us forward. These anniversaries are reminders of the systems built to suppress us—and the generations who refused to let that happen.

Lifted celebrates a future where we rise stronger, gather freely, reclaim ceremony, and continue to break the chains of imposed control. Our culture was never lost. It was lifted—and today, we lift it higher.
